Fonty teaches reading in a highly intuitive way which accelerates the learning process.
Dyslexic students can achieve fluent, automatic reading in just 15-20 hours. It brings together a unique combination of phonics, voice recognition technology with real time feedback and enjoyable games and exercises.

Fonty has been proven to be successful with countless students whose previous attempts to learn to read were not successful. The Fonty Reading Lab is used with students diagnosed early on with a learning disability and students who have faced years of frustration.

For most poor readers, prevention and early intervention programs that combine instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, reading fluency, and reading comprehension can increase reading skills to average reading levels. -National Institute of Child Health & Human Development

The teaching method

FONTY is based on a method developed in 1982 and tested on countless students from ages five to adult. The method applies the skill of phonemic awareness to the printed language, while practicing the decodin principle.

The unique approach of this program requires the student’s vocal response to all possible combinations of letters. These combinations eventually become the components of any new word readers will meet. The use of speech recognition technology feedback (in real time) throughout the program produces this reinforcement.

  Fonty Microphone
A special microphone is included with Fonty. The student speaks into the microphone and receives immediate feedback, assuring correct reading and allowing the student to work independently, at his own pace.

Reading Lab Setup

Using Fonty in a computer lab is an easy way to build the reading skills of an entire group of students. Experience shows that working in a computer lab creates the motivation to proceed and gain success and makes the teacher's job easier. Let the students work with Fonty and you'll find it easy to spot those who have difficulties, help them and move on.

Each workstation requires it's own Fonty license. The microphone headset that accompanies each license, must be plugged into the computer sound card for the speech recognition to work.

A single license can manage multiple students. For each session, the student is asked to enter his name when he launches Fonty. Fonty will remember where each student last left off and keep track of his individual progress. At any time, you can check your students' progress using the Fonty "Progress Report" feature. A separate report for each student, indicates where the student stands and areas of difficulty, allowing for decisions regarding repetitions needed.
